Type 2 Diabetes
I worked in Gokhan Hotamisligil’s lab at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health from 2010-2012. I joined the group through a class project at Harvard Business School, where I developed a commercialization strategy for a technology from the lab. In the lab, I designed and carried out studies to test an omega-7 fatty acid for metabolic benefits. This fatty acid is a monounsaturated fat found in macadamia nuts and sea buckthorn berries. The results showed that our omega-7 fatty acid had anti-diabetic effects and a strong anti-inflammatory effect. The compound is now being tested in humans by a collaborating lab.
